Our Jewish calendar now settles into normal with the High Holy Days behind us. We get to celebrate Shabbatot, to look forward to less momentous but still fun holidays like Chanukah come December. This gives us an opportunity to focus on weekly Torah portions as we launch into Bereshit (Genesis) with its stories of creation, Adam and Eve, their children and the patriarchs and matriarchs. With all these stories we can look past the literal events of the stories and look to the lessons our ancient ancestors wanted to convey. We get to learn about the purpose of our lives and the lessons of family life. Its all so powerful and meaningful. Enjoy it all.
